experimenting...

As always there is so much going on, and then a lot of nappinng happening too! The new school year is always hard on me, if it wasn't for that, fall would be my very favorite season. I love the smell of the air, the way the light creates a soft glow through the trees, the abundance of squash!, the colors...hmm..
But then there is also the reality of working too hard and not enjoying it enough, trying to find balance, trying to keep my head up when life is anchoring me under, trying to smile, even when it hurts...and of course, finding inspiration everywhere! Lately I have been really involved in finding as much "free stuff" as I can, and in the midst I have realized how much I love Angry Chicken. She makes me want to be "obsessively independent" too! Through her blog I have started to read How About Orange and more and more I realize that my career is not ultimately what I want. Well, while trying to find my place in the world and stressing/depressing over becoming another year older, I decided to play in the kitchen (which boost my self-esteem so much!)-- SO here is what I "created":

ZUCCHINI CUPCAKES

 SOOO YUMMY!!

Got this recipe from my favorite EVERYDAY magazine! They are so rockin'!
Then I was even more adventurous and made:

This is before I made it look sleek in the bowl! : )

This is a zucchini cupcake and scoop of pumpkin butter that I served to Ange. I must say, it was fabulous!!! I have more pumpkin butter than I know what to do with though! I will have to get creative! The recipe came from Body + Soul magazine. This whole post reminds me of another AWESOME dish I made from a Real Simple ( my absolute favorite right now!) magazine recipe, but I didn't take pics! I will make it again and share, it was THAT GOOD! Back to food I made today...while letting the pumpkin butter simmer I decided to try my hand at homemade hummus:

It came out perfect and I am amazed at how much money I will save!!! Wow!
So, now that I shared my food creativity, here is my craftivity of the week:
ATC's for ATC Beginner September Swap

The theme was Poetry, so I chose two of my FAVORITES: Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself" and Emily Dickinson's "Hope.." I'm sure I have said it before, but reading Leaves of Grass when I was a tween changed my life! These cards were sent to one of my favorite people to trade with: photoaskew2008 from Pasadena, CA. I have to post some of the great stuff he has sent my way!

So ends another long blog! To all, continue to experiment in life! It feels good! : ) And often tastes good too!!

  1. Way to go, Jenn! Everything looks so delicious, practical, and healthy. I love those weekends where a good amount of time is spent creating in the kitchen. It's the best for unwinding after weeks like ours, too. We should dig a tunnel down Grymes Hill attaching our two kitchens!
