I like to take pictures.

To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

EXPLORING GREENPOINT

11/365: Oh Silly Alice

Here is a small visual tour of my stroll around Greenpoint, Brooklyn. One of the many classic neighborhoods so distinct of the borough!

In hindsight, this area had so many tinges of my trip to Poland that it is fitting that there is quite an obvious polish presence in this area. 

A strange yet hypnotic splatter across a building on Lorimer St.

These views remind me of Poland, especially the green building.

Having no other motive than to explore and look at everything around you is one of the greatest treasures. Sigh.

...because I got my camera today!!

365 Challenge...

1/365: 5/24/09

Well, here is my first attempt at the 365 Photo Challenge-- you can find these all around the web. One concept I like is the Photojojo Picture-a-Day Challenge though I may try to manage the self-portrait challenge specifically.  What's funny is that I own three tripods now yet never set them up to play dress-up and take photos for the fun of it! The last time was probably 2005!! I was lucky that the light played well off the robin's-egg blue wall for the most part. I certainly have a lot of work to do...but challenges are for that purpose!! Here are some of my favorite participants: Andrea of "Hula Seventy"  and Elsie of "A Beautiful Mess" and "Red Velvet Art" !!! Let's hope I stick to it!!

And what do you make of the vulcanesque bangs I gave myself today!! Haha...or my allergy eyes! Ugh!

But, hey, this is my face sans make-up of any sort and no photo editing...so I should be thankful! xoxo

NARCISSISM IS...

...finding websites that make your pictures look so much more fun!! For the photoshop challenged (ahem...me) these sites provide me with opportunities to make cool effects in such easy ways!!

POLADROID 

This involves downloading an application, (and really there are even easier ways to achieve this effect), but I love watching the photo develop on the screen like a real polaroid!!

BE FUNKY

This site has sooo many fun and artistic effects and allows you to adjust levels!! Fun fun fun!

CORALINE : The Other Mother's Workshop

I made so many of these, but this one was the least scary! I haven't done a review yet because everyone (especially artists) needs to see this film!! I just got the original graphic novel, so perhaps after I read it I can make an even more fair evaluation of the film...suffice to say, I LOVED it!
